Abstract

ABSTRACT: The FDDS (Floating Drug Delivery System) system is designed to increase availability by extending the time of the drug in the stomach. The purpose of this study was to determine the formulation of floating tablets, to determine the effect of several polymers used on drugs and to determine the effectiveness of floating tablets for the treatment of diseases compared to conventional drugs. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review which is done by searching for secondary literature data that has been published from articles that have been indexed by SINTA and SCOPUS. The results showed that the floating tablet formulation can be made using two systems, namely effervescent and non-effervescent systems; showed that the tablet was affected by the viscosity and concentration of the polymer used, from each polymer combination, the drug time was found to be in the range of 6-24 hours; ofloxacin and cefuroxime are antibiotics that can treat Helicobacter pylori that causes gastric disease, in floating form producing better Cmax and Tmax values than the conventional form.
