Kajian Formulasi Deodoran Berbahan Herbal Berdasarkan Karakteristik dan Keamanan Terhadap Kulit

ABSTRACT:  Body odor is a problem that can interfere with one's activities. Body odor is caused by the activity of bacteria that break down sweat into substances that smell bad. Deodorants and antiperspirants are cosmetics that are commonly used to treat body odor. Deodorant is used to cover up odors; while antiperspirants are used to reduce the amount of sweat. Antiperspirants work as deodorants, but deodorants don't always act as antiperspirants. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of the active substance and the variation of a good base for deodorant preparations and to determine its safety on the skin. The research was conducted using literature study methods from various research journals that have been published nationally and internationally on plants that have antibacterial activity and deodorant formulations. The results of the literature search obtained are discussed and conclusions are drawn in the form of continuous paragraphs. Based on the literature search that has been done, each preparation has a good formula. In the cream deodorant preparation, the best formula is with the active substance of beluntas leaf extract, stearic acid-base, and triethanolamine. In Roll-On deodorant, the best formula is with the active ingredients of waru leaf extract, carbopol base, and triethanolamine. In lotion preparation, the best formula is with the active substance potassium alum, xanthan gum base. In the bar deodorant preparation, the best formula is with the active substance Polyglyceryl-3-Caprylate, beeswax base. All preparations do not irritate.

ABSTRAK: Bau badan merupakan permasalahan yang dapat mengganggu aktivitas seseorang. Bau badan disebabkan oleh aktivitas bakteri yang menguraikan keringat menjadi zat yang berbau kurang sedap. Deodoran dan antiperspiran merupakan kosmetik yang umum digunakan untuk mengatasi bau badan. Deodoran digunakan untuk menutupi bau; sedangkan antiperspiran digunakan untuk mengurangi jumlah keringat. Antiperspiran berfungsi sebagai deodoran, tetapi deodoran tidak selalu bertindak sebagai antiperspiran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui konsentrasi zat aktif dan variasi basis yang baik untuk sediaan deodoran dan mengetahui keamanannya terhadap kulit. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode studi literatur dari berbagai jurnal penelitian yang telah dipublikasikan nasional dan internasional tentang tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dan formulasi deodoran. Hasil penelusuran pustaka yang diperoleh dibahas dan ditarik kesimpulan dalam bentuk paragraf berkesinambungan. Berdasarkan penelusuran pustaka yang telah dilakukan, tiap-tiap sediaan memiliki formula yang baik. Pada sediaan deodoran krim formula terbaik yaitu dengan zat aktif ekstrak daun beluntas, basis asam stearate dan trietanolamin. Pada sediaan deodoran Roll-On formula terbaik yaitu dengan zat aktif ekstrak daun waru, basis karbopol dan trietanolamin. Pada sediaan lotion formula terbaik yaitu dengan zat aktif kalium tawas, basis xanthan gum. Pada sediaan deodoran batang formula yang terbaik yaitu dengan zat aktif Polyglyceryl-3-Caprylate, basis beeswax. Semua sediaan tidak menimbulkan efek iritasi.
