Hubungan Parenting Self-Efficacy dengan Parenting Stress pada Ibu dengan Anak Tunagrahita (Pengasuhan di Masa Pandemi COVID-19)
Abstract
Abstract. Changes in routines and limited access to health, education, recreation and social services, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, place intellectual disability children as vulnerable populations in situations that are difficult to predict. The characteristics possessed by children with intellectual disability become stressors that have an impact on the mental status of the mother as the closest figure in the child's life. It is important to see the process of caregiving in COVID-19 pandemic situation as a challenge rather than a threat that encourage confidence in one's ability to carry out parenting responsibilities in a positive and adaptive manner for child development. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between parenting self-efficacy and parenting stress in mothers of school-aged children with intellectual disability in Bandung, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Participants consisted of 38 mothers who filled out the Self-Efficacy for Parenting Task Index and Parental Stress Scale questionnaires. Based on the Spearman’s correlation test, it is known that there is a strong relationship between parenting self-efficacy and parenting stress in mothers with r=-.653 and p=.000<0.5.
