Pengaruh Basic Need Satisfaction Terhadap Work Engagement Pada Karyawan PT. KMK Plastics Indonesia

Abstract


Abstract. The results of previous studies indicate that satisfaction of basic psychological needs has an impact on work engagement. However, the variation of different results on what basic needs that have the most influence on the emergence of work engagement. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of basic need satisfaction on work engagement of employees of the Quality Assurance (QA) Department at PT. KMK Plastics Indonesia. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with the objective to measure the influence between variables and to prove the hypothesis of this research. This research was conducted on a number of population 106 Quality Assurance (QA) employees at PT. KMK Plastics Indonesia. The measuring instruments used are the basic needs satisfaction scale (W-BNS) from Van den Broeck et al., and the short version of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) from  Schaufeli & Bakker. The results of this study indicate that 61.3% of employees have a high level of basic need satisfaction and 66% of employees have a high level of work engagement. Data analysis has been carried out using multiple regression with the results of R2: 0.180 and the partial determination coefficient test with the results that the need of competence satisfaction has the greatest influence with a result β= 0.415, therefore it can be said that need of competence satisfaction requires the greatest influence in generating work engagement employees of the quality assurance department of PT. KMK Plastics Indonesia.

Abstrak. Hasil riset sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa psychological basic need satisfaction memiliki dampak terhadap work engagement. Namun terdapat variasi hasil yang berbeda pada kebutuhan dasar apa yang paling berpengaruh terhadap munculnya work engagement. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh basic need satisfaction terhadap work engagement pada karyawan departemen Quality Assurance (QA) di PT.KMK Plastics Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan alasan untuk mengukur pengaruh antar variabel dan membuktikan hipotesis dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada populasi yang berjumlah 106 karyawan departemen Quality Assurance (QA) di PT.KMK Plastics Indonesia. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah alat ukur work-related basic need satisfaction scale (W-BNS) dari Van den Broeck et al., dan alat ukur Utrecht Work Engagement Scale versi pendek (UWES-9) dari Schaufeli & Bakker. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 61.3% karyawan memiliki tingkat basic need satisfaction yang tinggi dan 66% karyawan memiliki tingkat work engagement yang tinggi. Analisis data telah dilakukan dengan  memakai metode regresi linier berganda dengan hasil R2 : 0.180 dan uji koefisien determinasi parsial dengan hasil need of competence satisfaction memiliki pengaruh paling besar dengan nilai β= 0.415, maka dari itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa need of competence satisfaction memiliki pengaruh paling besar dalam memunculkan work engagement karyawan departemen quality assurance PT.KMK Plastics Indonesia.
