Hubungan Adiksi Instagram dengan Prokrastinasi Akademik Pada Mahasiswa
Abstract
Abstract. The Covid-19 pandemic has limited space for movement so all activities have switched to using the internet. However, excessive internet use can lead to addiction and have a negative impact on academic performance. This study aims to see how closely the correlation between Instagram addiction and academic procrastination among college students in Bandung. The variables of this study are variable one, namely Instagram addiction and variable two, namely academic procrastination. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a positive correlation between Instagram addiction and academic procrastination in students. The subjects of this study were 252 students who were categorized as Instagram addicts, who were actively studying at the Bandung University. The research data was obtained from The Instagram Addiction Scale (TIAS) which was compiled by Sholeh, A. and Rusdi, A. (2019) and used the Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) from McCloskey & Scielzo (2015) which has been adapted into Indonesian by Fadhilah Bachmid (2019). This study uses correlational quantitative methods and accidental sampling. Analysis of the data using the Spearman correlation test and obtained the results of the correlation coefficient value of 0.305 and the specified level of significance (0.000 <0.05), meaning that there is a positive correlation between Instagram addiction and academic procrastination in students which shows a unidirectional correlation and the relationship is rather weak.

Abstrak. Pandemi Covid-19 membuat ruang gerak terbatas sehingga semua kegiatan beralih menggunakan internet. Namun penggunaan internet yang berlebihan dapat menyebabkan adiksi dan berdampak negatif pada performa akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat seberapa erat hubungan antara adiksi instagram dengan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa di Bandung. Variabel penelitian ini adalah variabel satu yaitu adiksi Instagram dan variabel dua yaitu prokrastinasi akademik. Hipotesis pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan positif antara adiksi Instagram dengan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 252 mahasiswa yang terkategori adiksi Instagram, yang aktif berkuliah di Perguruan Tinggi Bandung. Data penelitian diperoleh dari alat ukur The Instagram Addiction Scale (TIAS) yang disusun oleh Sholeh, A. dan Rusdi, A. (2019) serta menggunakan alat ukur Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) dari McCloskey & Scielzo (2015) yang telah diadaptasi ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia oleh Fadhilah Bachmid (2019). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional dan accidental sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi spearman dan memperoleh hasil nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0, 305 dan taraf nyata yang ditetapkan (0,000 < 0,05), artinya terdapat hubungan positif antara adiksi Instagram dengan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa yang menunjukkan korelasi yang searah dan hubungannya agak lemah.
