Studi Deskriptif Trait Emotional Intelligence pada Gamers Terindikasi Kecanduan Game Online

Abstract


Abstract. There is an increase in gamers from various ages in the world. In addition to having benefits, online games also have disadvantages. If online games are being played excessively, gamers are more likely to experience Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD).  IGD has three levels of severity, namely mild, moderate, and severe. Certain personality types are more prone to experiencing IGD than others. This descriptive study aims to present a description of gamers’ Trait Emotional Intelligence (TEI) in each category of IGD. Selected population of this study is IGD indicted early adult gamers from mild to severe totaling 271 individuals. Data were collected using Game Addiction Scale (GAS) and Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF) measurement tools. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results are, in the mild IGD category, 43 gamers have low TEI (23.76%) and 138 gamers have high TEI (76.24%). In the moderate IGD category, out of 83 gamers there are 49 gamers who have low TEI (59.04%) and 34 gamers who have high TEI (40.96%). Last but not least, in the severe IGD category totaling 7 gamers, there are 5 gamers whose TEI are low (71.43%) and 2 gamers whose TEI are high (28.57%).Keywords: Internet Gaming Disorder, Trait Emotional Intelligence, Early Adult.Abstrak. Terjadi peningkatan gamers dari berbagai kalangan usia di dunia. Selain memiliki manfaat, game online juga memiliki kerugian yaitu jika dimainkan secara berlebihan gamers lebih berkemungkinan untuk mengalami Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). IGD memiliki tiga tingkat keparahan yaitu rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Tipe-tipe kepribadian terentu lebih rentan untuk mengalami IGD daripada yang lain. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk melihat dan memperoleh gambaran Trait Emotional Intelligence (TEI) pada gamers pada masing-masing kategori IGD. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah 271 gamers berusia dewasa awal yang terindikasi IGD dari mulai rendah hingga tinggi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan alat ukur Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF) dan Game Addiction Scale (GAS). Data yang sudah terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data, didapatkan hasil yaitu pada kategori IGD rendah, terdapat 43 gamers yang memiliki TEI rendah sebesar 23,76% dan 138 gamers yang memiliki TEI tinggi sebesar 76,24%. Pada kategori IGD sedang, dari 83 gamers terdapat 49 gamers yang memiliki TEI rendah sebesar 59,04% dan 34 gamers yang memiliki TEI tinggi sebesar 40,96%. Pada kategori IGD tinggi, dari 7 gamers terdapat 5 gamers yang memiliki TEI rendah sebesar 71,43% dan 2 gamers yang memiliki TEI tinggi sebesar 28,57%.
