Aktivitas Antibakteri Minyak Batang Kayu Manis (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) terhadap Bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis
Abstract
Abstract. Acne occurs due to blockage of the follicles by dead skin cells , sebum and infection by the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis. Oil of cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) are known to have sinamaldehid compound that acts as an antibacterial . This study aims to determine the content of compounds in cinnamon oil and test the antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis. Determining the content of the active compound was conducted by GC - MS.Pengujian antibacterial activity performed by the agar diffusion method against the oil concentration is 0.2; 0.5; 1 and 2% . The results of GC - MS is known that cinnamon oil containing sinnamaldehid as much as 61.53%. The results showed MIC cinnamon oil is 0.5% which gives inhibitory diameter of 8.2 ± 1.32 mm
