Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Minyak Kayu Manis (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) terhadap Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus Penyebab Jerawat

Abstract


Abstract. Acne is a chronic inflammatory process pilosebaceous glands characterized by comedones, papules, pustules, and nodules. One of the causes of acne is the existence of skin bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, where these bacteria cause the appearance of pustules and nodules. cinnamon oil (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) contains compounds known sinamaldehid efficacious as antifungal and antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of the compounds in cinnamon oil that is used to test the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Testing compounds of sinamaldehid conducted using GC-MS. Antibacterial activity test performed by the agar diffusion method. The results showed cinnamon oil contains sinamaldehid amounted to 61.53%. Cinnamon oil has antibacterial activity with a diameter value inhibition 18.773 ± 0.574 mm at a concentration of 0.1%.

Abstrak. Jerawat adalah suatu proses peradangan kronik kelenjar-kelenjar polisebasea yang ditandai dengan adanya komedo, papul, pustule, dan nodul. Salah satu faktor penyebab jerawat  adalah keberadaan  dari bakteri kulit Staphylococcus aureus, dimana bakteri ini menyebabkan munculnya pustul dan nodul. Minyak kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) diketahui  mengandung senyawa sinamaldehid yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antifungi dan antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa dalam minyak kayu manis yang digunakan dengan menguji aktivitas antibakterinya terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Pengujian kandungan senyawa sinamaldehid dilakukan dengan metode KG-SM. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan minyak kayu manis mengandung sinamaldehid 61,53%. Minyak kayu manis memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dengan nilai diameter hambat 18,773 ± 0,574 mm pada konsentrasi 0,1%.
