Formulasi Sediaan Masker Gel Peel-off Minyak Serai Wangi (Cymbopogon winterianus Jowitt.) serta Uji Aktivitas terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis

Abstract. Acne is a skin disorder that occurs because of interference with creatinisation follicles andproduction of sebum so that the flow of sebum clogged. Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria also plays a role in the occurrence of acne. Material which has an activity to inhibit that bacterial growth is citronella oil (Cymbopogon winterianus Jowitt.) which is rich in citronella and geraniol then it was made in form of gel peel-off mask that was practical in use. The problem in this research was how the citronella oil activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and how its formulation into dosage gel peel-off mask. This research aimed to formulate the preparation of gel peel-off masks that had pharmaceutical requirements and test the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Formula was done by varying the concentration of gelling agent HPMC (Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose) 1, 2, 2.5 and 3%. Based on the activity test using agar diffusion method the 2% of citronella oil gave the inhibitory diameter of 2.48 cm. Formula with2,5% HPMC concentration and 2% citronella oil fulfilled pharmaceutical requirements including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersive power, speed time to dry out, with inhibitor diameter was 1.81. Stability test of preparation was at 40â°C for 28 days storage resulted that the preparation was stable.

Abstrak. Jerawat merupakan kelainan kulit wajah yang terjadi karena adanya gangguan kreatinisasi folikel disertai produksi sebum sehingga aliran sebum tersumbat. Bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis berperan juga dalam  terjadinya jerawat. Bahan yang mempunyai aktivitas untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri tersebut adalah Minyak Serai Wangi (Cymbopogon winterianus Jowitt.) yang kaya akan kandungan sitronella dan geraniol kemudian dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan masker gel peel-off yang praktis dalam penggunaannya. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimana aktivitas MSW terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis serta bagaimana formulasinya menjadi sediaan masker gel peel-off . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi sediaan masker gel peel-off yang memenuhi persyaratan farmasetik dan menguji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis. Formula dilakukan dengan memvariasikan konsentrasi gelling agent HPMC (Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose) 1., 2., 2,5 dan 3%. Berdasarkan uji aktivitas menggunakan metode difusi agar MSW 2% memberikan diameter hambat sebesar 2,48 cm. Formula dengan konsentrasi HPMC 2,5% dan MSW 2% memenuhi persyaratan farmasetik meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, kecepatan waktu mengering, dengan diameter hambat sediaan yaitu 1,81 cm. Uji stabilitas sediaan pada 40â°C selama 28 hari penyimpanan menghasilkan sediaan yang stabil.
