Kajian Pustaka Sistem Penghantaran Etosom untuk Senyawa Bahan Alam yang Berkhasiat Antioksidan

Abstract


ABSTRACT: Secondary metabolites from herbal compounds that have antioxidant activity have low penetration to the skin because its hydrophilic nature. To increase its penetration, a new drug delivery system is needed. Ethosome is an alternative that can be used to deliver herbal compounds because of its ability to deliver hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and amphiphilic compounds. Ethosome is a drug delivery system technology in the form of lipid-based, soft, and elastic carrier vesicles. The purpose of this study was to determine the ethosomal formulation containing herbal compounds, also its characteristics and applications. The study was conducted using a literature research method. Ethosome is containing phospholipid, ethanol, and water, or in some studies also contains propylenglycol to increase its penetration and stability. The best ethosome characteristics are having vesicle size between 10-1000 nm, polydispersity index under 0,5, zeta potential under -25 mV and above +25 mV, and entrapment efficiency more than 70%. Ethosomes have been applied to some dosage forms, such as gel and cream containing ethosome suspension.

ABSTRAK: Metabolit sekunder yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan berpenetrasi dengan rendah di kulit karena sifatnya yang hidrofilik. Untuk meningkatkan penetrasinya maka diperlukan sistem penghantaran obat baru. Etosom adalah salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan untuk menghantarkan senyawa bahan alam karena kemampuannya yang dapat menghantarkan senyawa hidrofilik, hidrofobik, maupun ampifilik. Etosom merupakan suatu teknologi sistem penghantaran obat berupa vesikel pembawa yang lunak dan elastik berbasis lipid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji artikel ilmiah untuk mengetahui formulasi etosom untuk senyawa bahan alam beserta karakteristik dan contoh aplikasinya. Pengkajian dilakukan dengan metode literature research. Komponen utama etosom adalah fosfolipid, etanol, dan air, atau pada beberapa penelitian juga ditambahkan propilenglikol untuk meningkatkan penetrasi dan stabilitasnya. Karakteristik etosom yang baik adalah yang berukuran 10-1000 nm, indeks polidispersitas kurang dari 0,5, potensial zeta kurang dari -25 mV dan lebih dari +25 mV, serta persentase efisiensi penjerapan lebih dari 70%. Etosom telah dipalikasikan ke dalam beberapa bentuk sediaan, seperti gel dan krim mengandung suspensi etosom.
