Abstract

Abstract. Private schools are allowed by the government to develop curricula according to their respective visions and missions with conditions in accordance with national standards. This results in various school systems, one of which is the full day school system. SDIT X applies a full day school system with 8-9 hours of study time per day. Sixth grade students have more demands because they have to prepare for the national exam. This can affect the involvement of students in the school environment and class called school engagement. The students appreciate the existence of peers who are not picky friends, help when they do not understand the lesson, lend to each other, praise each other and strengthen to help them which indicates a relationship between peer support and school engagement. This study aims to obtain an overview regarding the level of peer support and school engagement of sixth grade students at SDIT X. The research method used is descriptive research method with a measuring instrument in the form of questionnaires conducted on the entire population with a total of 41 students. The measuring instrument used is adaptation from School Engagement Measurement by Fredricks, J. A., Blumenfeld, P. C., Friedel, J., and Paris, A. H. (2005) and Interpersonal Support Evaluation List by Cohen, S., and Hoberman, H. M. (1983). The results showed that students who had a high level of peer support amounted to 65,9% and students who had a high level of school engagement amounted to 61%.
