Studi Deskriptif Mengenai Humor Style pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Unisba Angkatan 2014

Abstract. Final year students experience more stress than new students because they have greater responsibilities. Students of the Faculty of Psychology Unisba generation 2014 are a final student with academic demands that cause students experiencing stress. Various ways are done to reduce the tension caused by academic demands. The most often done is to put in humor while experiencing difficulty. However, there are differences in students when using humor. The difference in use of humor is called Martin (2007) as a humor style. This research was conducted to obtain empirical data about humor style in students of the Faculty of Psychology Unisba generation 2014. The method used is descriptive study with a population of 51 people. The measuring instrument used in the form of questionnaires constructed by researchers based on theoretical and measuring tools from Martin (2007). The results showed that most students of Faculty of Psychology Unisba generation 2014 using adaptive humor especially affiliative humor when faced with stress situation related to academic demands. Affiliative humor arises when students are gathering with their friends. In addition, the type of personality that supports the use of affiliative humor in student is the type of personality extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Meanwhile, students with the personality type of neuroticism tend to bring up self defeating humor.

Abstrak. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir lebih banyak mengalami stres daripada mahasiwa baru karena memiliki tanggung jawab yang lebih besar. Mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Unisba angkatan 2014 merupakan mahasiswa tingkat akhir dengan tuntutan akademik yang dapat membuat mahasiswanya mengalami stres. Berbagai cara dilakukan untuk mereduksi ketegangan yang disebabkan oleh tuntutan akademik dan yang paling sering dilakukan adalah dengan menyisipkan humor ketika sedang mengalami kesulitan. Namun, terdapat perbedaan pada mahasiswa ketika menggunakan humor. Perbedaan penggunaan humor ini disebut Martin (2007) sebagai humor style. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh data empiris mengenai humor style pada mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Unisba angkatan 2014. Metode yang digunakan yakni studi deskriptif dengan populasi sebanyak 51 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan berupa kuisioner yang dikonstruksikan oleh peneliti berdasarkan acuan teori dan alat ukur dari Martin (2007). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Unisba angkatan 2014 menggunakan adaptive humor terutama affiliative humor ketika menghadapi situasi stres dalam kaitannya dengan tuntutan akademik. Affiliative humor muncul ketika mahasiswa sedang berkumpul dengan teman-temannya. Selain itu, tipe kepribadian yang mendukung penggunaan affiliative humor pada mahasiswa yakni tipe kepribadian extraversion, opennes to experience, agreeableness, dan conscientiousness. Kemudian, mahasiswa dengan tipe kepribadian neuroticism cenderung memunculkan self defeating humor.
