ABSTRACT

Bandung municipal police are faced with various demands when working. Municipal police feel a little amount of current personnel and a delegation of other agencies that work different purposes, not equipped with a weapon while on duty in the field, and to be alert 24 hours. These pressures resulted in work stress on municipal police themselves when working in the discipline. Pressure which happens to municipal police make psychic energy is lost when working. The energy loss making municipal police performance in the field is not optimal so unmotivated to work. The purpose of this study to obtain data on how closely the relationship between job stress with work motivation in the civil service police unit (SATPOL PP) in Bandung. The method used in this study is the correlation method. The population in this study are 237 members of municipal police parts of the field, sampling technique using a random sample selection means that 72 members of municipal police in parts of the field is the subject of this study. Job stress was measured using a measuring instrument made by the researcher based on working stress theory (reliability = 0.902) and motivation were measured using a measuring instrument made by the researchers based on the theory of work motivation (reliability = 0.867). Based on data processing using Spearman rank correlation test showed that there is a close relationship between job stress with work motivation (r = -0.781). Dimensions of job stress are dominant in municipal police are individual attitudes and psychological symptoms, while the tendency owned work motivation is energizing.
