Studi Deskriptif Mengenai Religious Identity Status pada Mahasiswa Tingkat Akhir Universitas Islam Bandung

Abstract


Abstract. Early adulthood is a period when people should have discovered the identity, including religious identity. To achieve religious identity, the individual have to go through the process of crisis/exploration and then make a commitment (Santrock, 2003). Students in Bandung Islamic University have opportunity to explore Islamic values by taking a lot of Islamic studies provide by the university. In fact, not all of the students take this opportunity to explore and they do not have commitment of Islamic identity. The purpose of this study is to describe the religious identity status of Bandung Islamic University students in the final year. This study uses descriptive method. The respondents are 107 students and have completed all of the Islamic studies. The instrument is Bell Measure For Religious Identity - Religious Identity Salience and Status by David M. Bell. The result is 44.85% of the subjects have Integration Religious Identity Status, 35.51% Foreclosure, 2.8% Moratorium, 0% Diffusion, 15,88% Foreclosure-Integration, and 0,93% Moratorium-Integration.

 

Abstrak. Dewasa awal merupakan periode ketika individu seharusnya sudah menemukan identitas, termasuk di dalamnya identitas keagamaan (religious identity). Untuk mencapai religious identity, individu harus melewati proses krisis/eksplorasi dan kemudian terjadi komitmen (Santrock, 2003). Selama 4 tahun perkuliahan, terdapat kemungkinan terjadinya proses eksplorasi pada mahasiswa, didukung dengan adanya faktor-faktor yang dapat membentuk religious identity, baik di rumah maupun kampus. Kenyataannya, tidak semua mahasiswa memanfaatkan faktor-faktor tersebut sebagai sarana untuk mengeksplorasi nilai-nilai agama dan masih terdapat mahasiswa yang belum memiliki komitmen terhadap agamanya, sehingga religious identity status yang ditunjukkan pun beragam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data empiris gambaran religious identity status pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Universitas Islam Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif dengan jumlah subjek 107 mahasiswa. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kuesioner baku dari David M. Bell (2009) yaitu Bell Measure For Religious Identity – Religious Identity Salience and Status. Alat ukur tersebut memiliki 28 item valid berdasarkan norma Cronbach’s Alpha. Berdasarkan pengolahan data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dengan metode statistik persentase diperoleh data, yaitu 44,85% religious identity integration, 35,51% religious identity foreclosure, 2,8% religious identity moratorium, 0% religious identity diffusion, 15,88% religious identity foreclosure-integration, dan 0,93% religious identity moratorium-integration.
