Abstract

Abstract. Organizational commitment is a behavior that is very vital for the survival of an organization in order to be able to maintain and improve the services or products produced (Chairy, L.S, 2002). The vitality of the existence of organizational commitment is felt by universities, considering that in the current era of globalization, the tasks and responsibilities carried out by universities are increasingly heavy and complex. Garcia & Zamor (2003); Rego & Cunha (2008) stated that one way to increase organizational commitment is through an inside-out approach, which is to support organizational values and workplace spirituality. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of Workplace Spirituality on Organizational Commitment to lecturers at the Islamic University of Bandung. The research method used is the causality method with the number of subjects being 114 Unisba lecturers. This study uses a psychological scale with a workplace spirituality measurement tool from Ashmos and Duchon (2000) adapted by Widyarini (2011), and an organizational commitment measurement tool from Mowday, Steers, Porter (1979) developed by Tri Muji Ingarianti. The analysis technique in this study uses multiple regression analysis. The results of the study found that 97.37% of lecturers had high workplace spirituality and 57.02% had high organizational commitment. Multiple regression results show that workplace spirituality has a positive effect on organizational commitment by (R Square = 0.422). All components of workplace spirituality have a positive influence on organizational commitment with an effect of 31.53% from the inner life component, 6.10% from the meaningful work component, and 4.61% from the sense of community component.
