Kajian Five – Factor Model dalam Bermain Media Sosial

Abstract


Abstract. Social media means the individual can participate, share, blog, create social networks, wikis, conduct virtual forums (Watie, 2016). Fang et al. (Rahardjo et al., 2020) mention that social media is one way of coping with stress for students to get social support, happiness, and psychological well-being because it is fun, entertaining, and also to find information. Research conducted by Hootsuite (We are Social) in January 2020 quoted from Kompas.id said that social media users in Indonesia had reached 170 million users, an increase of 6.3% compared to 2020. According to Moore & McElroy (2012), Social media can identify a person's personality. Human personality consists of extraversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, known as the five-factor model. (McCrae & Costa, 2005).  Moore & McElroy (2012) also explains how individual levels affect the way social media plays. This study aims to describe how the five-factor personality model in playing social media. The theory used in this study is the Five-Factor Model Theory of McCrae & Costa (2005). This research uses a method called literature study. The study results were obtained by looking at several results of scientific journals and books as the primary reference.

Abstrak. Media sosial merupakan sarana dimana individu bisa berpartisipasi, berbagi, melakukan blog, menciptakan jejaring sosial, wiki, melakukan forum secara virtual (Watie, 2016). . Fang et al.,  (Rahardjo et al., 2020) menyebutkan media sosial merupakan salah satu cara coping stress bagi mahasiswa sebagai sarana untuk mendapat dukungan sosial, kebahagiaan dan kesejahteraan psikologis karena bersifat menyenangkan, menghibur, dan juga sebagai sarana untuk mencari informasi. Riset yang dilakukan oleh Hootsuite (We are Social) pada Januari 2020 dikutip dari kompas.id mengatakan pengguna media sosial di Indonesia telah mencapai 170 juta pengguna dimana mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 6,3 %  dibandingkan tahun 2020. Menurut Moore & McElroy, (2012) media sosial bisa menjadi salah satu sarana untuk mengidentifikasi kepribadian seseorang. Kepribadian manusia terdiri dari extraversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness yang dikenal sebagai five – factor model (McCrae & Costa, 2005).  Moore & McElroy, (2012) juga menjalaskan tingkatan individu mempengaruhi cara bermain media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan bagaimana kepribadian – kepribadian five – factor model dalam bermain media sosial. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Five – Factor Model dari McCrae & Costa, (2005). Penelitian ini mengguanakan studi literatur atau disebut juga studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian didapatkan dengan melihat beberapa hasil jurnal ilmiah dan buku sebagai refrensi utama.
