Hubungan antara Adiksi Media Sosial dengan Life Satisfaction pada Mahasiswa Pengguna Instagram

Abstract


Abstract. Instagram is one of the most popular social media around the world, including in Indonesia. Excessive use of Instagram have a negative impact on individual users, one of the negative impacts is the emergence of social media addiction behavior. Instagram users with social media addiction behavior have the desire to use Instagram continuously for various reasons and spend a lot of time on these activities so that it can have an impact on the individual's level of life satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social media addiction and life satisfaction with 518 college students using Instagram in Bandung. The measuring instrument used is Bergen Social Media Addiction (Griffiths et al., 2016) and Satisfaction With Life Scale (Diener et al, 1985). This research is a quantitative research with rank-spearman correlation analysis technique. Based on the analysis using SPSS, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between social media addiction and life satisfaction where the correlation value between the two variables is -0.171, meaning that the relationship between the two variables is negative and is at a very weak level.

Abstrak. Instagram merupakan salah satu aplikasi media sosial yang paling populer di seluruh dunia termasuk di Indonesia. Penggunaan instagram secara berlebihan dapat memberi dampak negatif bagi individu penggunanya, salah satunya adalah timbulnya perilaku adiksi media sosial. Individu pengguna instagram dengan perilaku adiksi media sosial memiliki keinginan untuk menggunakan instagram terus-menerus untuk berbagai alasan dan menghabiskan banyak waktu untuk aktivitas tersebut sehingga dapat berdampak pada tingkat life satisfaction individu tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui keeratan hubungan antara adiksi media sosial dengan life satisfaction dengan responden 518 mahasiswa pengguna instagram di Kota Bandung. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Bergen Social Media Addiction (Griffiths et al., 2016) dan Satisfaction With Life Scale (Diener et al, 1985). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis korelasi rank-spearman. Berdasarkan analisa menggunakan SPSS, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara adiksi media sosial dengan life satisfaction dimana nilai korelasi antara kedua variabel adalah -0.171, artinya hubungan antara kedua variabel bersifat negatif dan berada pada tingkatan yang sangat lemah.
