Hubungan Adiksi Media Sosial dengan Psychological Well-Being Pada Mahasiswa di Kota Bandung

Abstract. Social media is the most accessible site for the 17-24 year old age group dominated by college students. The high activity of social media use will lead to social media addiction. College Students often access social media during lecture hours, delaying work, and lack of sleep. However, students feel that their lives are meaningful, high self-esteem, good self-control and optimism in living a difficult moment in this pandemic. This indicates that students in Bandung have a good well-being. The purpose of this study is to find out how closely the relationship between social media adiksi and psychological well-being in students in Bandung City. The method used is correlational design with quantitative approach with the number of participants as many as 731 college students. The measuring instrument used is Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale using an analytical technique called Spearman's Rank Correlation Test. The results showed a negative relationship between Social Media Addiction and Psychological Well-Being in students in Bandung (rs = -.397, p<.01). That is, the lower the level of social media addiction students, the higher psychological well-being that students have.

Abstrak. Media sosial merupakan situs yang paling banyak diakses oleh kelompok usia 17-24 tahun yang didominasi oleh mahasiswa. Tingginya aktivitas penggunaan media sosial ini akan mengarah pada kecenderungan adiksi media sosial. Mahasiswa sering mengakses media sosial pada jam perkuliahan, menunda mengerjakan tugas, dan kurang tidur. Namun, mahasiswa merasa bahwa hidupnya bermakna, harga diri yang tinggi, kontrol diri yang baik dan optimis dalam menjalani momen sulit dikala pandemi ini. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa di Kota Bandung memiliki well-being yang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui seberapa erat hubungan antara adiksi media sosial dengan psychological well-being pada mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah desain korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 731 orang mahasiswa. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale dan Ryff’s Psychological Well-being Scale dengan menggunakan teknik analisis yaitu Uji Korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan hubungan yang negatif antara Adiksi Media Sosial dengan Psychological Well-Being pada mahasiswa di Kota Bandung (rs = -.397, p<.01). Artinya, semakin rendah tingkat adiksi media sosial mahasiswa maka semakin tinggi psychological well-being yang dimiliki mahasiswa.
