Descriptive study of self control on teenagers about discipline in charitable institution X.

Abstract


Charitable institution X is an institution provides prosperity service, parents/guardian subtitute service to meet a demand of children’s needs. The institution establish a rule and discipline for teenagers there and it is explained and exposed on readable places for them. The one who breaks the rule and discipline will obtain sanction; all points aof all infractions will be accumulated to be a memoranda. Some of them obey the rule and discipline and some disobey that makes the goals of some activities in the instituion unsuccessful. According to Averill (1973) that self control is personal control that is a simple psychological variable because there are 3  different aspects about self control ability; behavior control, cognitive control, and decisional control. The objective of this study is to describe a clear picture of self control on teenagers about discipline in charitable institution. The method used is descriptive study with 27 teenagers as the sample. The data collected by providing a questionnaire about self control based on the concept Averill (1973). The results show that self control of teenagers in charitable isntitution is low. It can be seen from behaviour control aspect and low decisional control, however, the cognitive control aspect is high.
