Hubungan antara Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) dengan Adiksi Media Sosial pada Penggemar Selebriti Korea

Abstract. Korean celebrity fans are showing indications of experiencing FoMO. The emergence of curiosity and anxiety that something is missing after opening his social media. Often failing to refrain from accessing their idol information because of high curiosity. Feelings of fear of missing interesting things and being considered not up to date related to their idols so that also causes them to always be awake and find it difficult to get out of their devices. This condition causes disruption of important activities. This indicates social media addiction.  This study aims to determine the closeness of the relationship between Fear of Missing Out and Social Media Addiction in Korean celebrity fans totaling 146 people. In this study, using Rank Spearman correlation analysis with quantitative research methods. Sampling technique uses non-probability purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used is the Fear of Missing Out from Przybylski (2013) which has been adapted by Putri, AID and Halimah, L (2018) and the Social Media Addiction Scale by Eijnden, Lemmens, and Valkenburg (2016), which has been modified by Putri. , AID and Halimah, L (2018). The results showed that there was a positive relationship between Fear of Missing Out and Social Media Addiction on Korean Celebrity Fans with a value of r = 0.617 with a value of P = 0.000. <0.05. This means that the higher the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), the higher the Social Media Addiction in Korean celebrity fans.

Abstrak. Penggemar selebriti korea menunjukkan indikasi mengalami FoMO. Munculnya rasa penasaran dan was – was adanya sesuatu yang hilang setelah membuka media sosialnya. Seringkali gagal menahan diri untuk tidak mengakses informasi idolanya karena rasa penasaran yang tinggi. Perasaan ketakutan ketinggalan hal-hal menarik dan dianggap tidak up to date terkait idola mereka sehingga hal itu pula yang menyebabkan harus selalu terjaga dan sulit untuk lepas dari gawainya. Kondisi ini menyebabkan terganggunya aktivitas–aktivitas penting. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan adanya adiksi media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keeratan hubungan antara Fear of Missing Out dengan Adiksi Media Sosial pada penggemar selebriti korea berjumlah 146 orang. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis korelasi Rank Spearman dengan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Teknik Sampling menggunakan non probabilitas Purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu Fear of Missing Out dari Przybylski (2013) yang sudah diadaptasi oleh Putri, A.I.D dan Halimah, L (2018) dan Skala Adiksi Media Sosial oleh Eijnden, Lemmens, dan Valkenburg (2016), yang sudah di modifikasi oleh Putri, A.I.D dan Halimah, L (2018). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif antara Fear of Missing Out dengan Adiksi Media Sosial pada Penggemar Selebriti Korea dengan nilai r = 0,617 dengan nilai P = 0,000. < 0,05. Artinya semakin tinggi Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) maka semakin tinggi Adiksi Media Sosial pada penggemar selebriti korea.
