Studi Deskriptif Pengalaman Flow dalam Olahraga Ski Air di Kabupaten Bandung Barat

Abstract


Abstract. Water ski is one of achievement sport. In the previous researchs, individuals that experience flow is people that has attraction to activities, meanwhile in this subject they are the athletes that don’t have their own willing, instead they are asked by the management of water ski in Bandung Barat district. Nevertheless, most of athletes felt challenged, focused towards every movement detail or things that connected with water ski, felt like time feels different, and obtained their own satisfaction when they do water skiing. This indicates the flow experience that felt by the athletes. According to Cskzentmihalyi (1975) flow is a holistic sensation that occur when an individual do an action with full involvement. Flow experience in sport activity can bring up important peak performance in achievement sport so that the athletes can perform their optimal ability. This research is using study descriptive research method with 15 subjects of water ski athletes in Bandung Barat district. The measuring instrument that is used is The Flow State Scale (FSS) and interview. From the result of the research, it obtained that 9 subjects had intense flow experience with all dimension, 3 subjects had non-intense flow experience, and the rest 3 subjects did not have flow experience. In this research high dimension is sense of control and autoletic experience dimension, while the lowest dimension is action-awareness merging.

Abstrak. Ski air merupakan salah satu olahraga prestasi, Pada penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya, individu yang mengalami flow adalah orang-orang yang memiliki ketertarikan pada kegiatannya, sedangkan pada subjek ini mereka adalah para atlet yang bukan atas keinginan sendiri melainkan karena diminta/diajak oleh pengurus di ski air Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Walaupun demikian, sebagian besar atlet merasa tertantang, sangat fokus terhadap setiap detail gerakan atau hal-hal berhubungan dengan ski air, merasa waktu terasa berbeda dan mendapat kepuasan tersendiri ketika melakukan ski air. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan adanya pengalaman flow yang dirasakan para atlet. Menurut Csikzentmihalyi (1975) flow adalah suatu sensasi holistik yang terwujud ketika individu melakukan tindakan dengan keterlibatan penuh. Pengalaman flow dalam akivitas olahraga dapat memunculkan peak performance (performa optimal) yang penting dalam olahraga prestasi sehingga para atletnya dapat menampilkan kemampuan optimalnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi deskriptif dengan subjek 15 orang atlet Ski air di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Alat ukur yang di gunakan adalah The Flow State Scale (FSS) dan wawancara. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut didapatkan 9 orang subjek mengalami pengalaman flow intens dengan mengalami seluruh dimensi, 3 orang subjek mengalami pengalaman flow tidak intens dan 3 orang subjek lainnya tidak mengalami pengalaman flow. Pada penelitian ini dimensi tinggi adalah dimensi Sense of control dan Autoletic experience, sedangkan dimensi yang paling rendah adalah action-awareness merging.
