Abstract

Abstract. Increase the added value of coal is a plan in the sale of the whole coal that has been mined, one of the increase the added value of coal that can be done is using the technology of fast pyrolysis. The research of fast pyrolysis aims to increase the added value of coal. Therefore this study was carried out by analyzing the influence of temperature and water content of the feed on the products of fast pyrolysis. A series of activities this study includes several stages of testing including the preparation of bait and equipment, the process of fast pyrolysis, as well as analysis of feed and products produced, i.e. charcoal, gas, and liquid. In this research, with two variations, i.e. variations in feed form of coal with a water content by 10.57% and coal with a moisture content of to 16.86% as well as temperature variations which include 500, 600, 700, and 800ºC. Based on the variations of the temperature used, the higher the temperature used, the charcoal product the fewer that produced. As with the liquid product, at a temperature of 500 and 600ºC liquid product that is produced more and fell back on at 700 and 800ºC. As for the product gas, the higher the temperature used, then the product gas obtained is also higher. Based on the variation of the water content of the feed, at a temperature of 500 to 800ºC, the mass of charcoal produced is higher on the feed 1 of the on the mass of charcoal that is produced on the feed 2. In addition, the molten mass obtained is high is on when using bait 2 if compared with feed 1 at all temperatures. As for the acquisition of the mass of the gas, tends to feed 1 that is generating a lot of gas compared to using bait 2 at all temperatures.
