Abstract

Abstract. Neglasari Farmer Group is one of the farmer groups in Neglasari sub-district, Bandung Regency. The picking process carried out by Neglasari Farmers in Bandung Regency uses baskets, nets to collect tea leaves, and scissors. However, the farmer’s posture while working looks awkward, because the farmers had to bent over their body to pick the tea leaves that ranged from 10 – 15 kg. Lifting load of more than 5 kg carried out by tea picking workers and repetitive work can cause a low back pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Therefore, this study aims to measure the work risk and design a tea basket using the anthropometry method to minimize the work risks. The used method to measure work risk is the key indicator method. Risk assessment for transferring tea leaves to the net scored 94,3 which indicates that the activity is risky and increased substantially. Based on the results of the work risk assessment of the tea picking activities, the recommendation to minimize the work risk is to redesign the work facilities. Through the design results, the basket volume capacity can be reduced by 62,6% of the initial volume capacity, so that the risk category for the transferring tea leaves is low with the score 45.
