Makna Nomophobia di Kalangan Mahasiswa

Abstract

Abstract.The phenomenon were research in this thesis is about the meaning of nomophobia among student with subtitle meaning fenomology no mobile phone phobia among student Bandung Islamic University in Faculty of Science Communication. This study aims to identify the student’s self concept smartphone user about nomophobia, the meaning of nomophobia for self existence and self image which experienced users among student, the meaning about nomophobia for self image and motive of nomophobias. This research uses the theory of perspective phenomenology theory by Alfred Schutz and strengthen research purposes using the theory of technology. The methodology of the research with used in the case is qualitative research with phenomenology approach and constructivism as a study of paradigm. The techniques of data collection is done by participant observation, interviews, and documentation. The research of methodology were using qualitative research with approach phenomenology, the techniques of data collection were done by participants observation, interview and documentation.The result of the research showed the meaning of nomophobia which appear in the use of smartphone among student which motivated by the change of slef concept  how to communicate between them, self existemce, and self image in social media which is become the main reason for the nomophobia and because of the motivation of nomophobias that consisting of desire to follow he trend, influence while the factor which the goal of nomophobia  in order words the motivation of nomophobia are to support the education, expression the hobby, the symbol of social identity, the symbol of self actually, the symbol of communication links and the symbol of technology.

Abstrak.Fenomena yang diteliti pada skripsi ini yaitu Makna Nomophobia di Kalangan Mahasiswa dengan sub judul Studi Fenomenologi Makna No Mobile Phone Phobia di Kalangan Mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Islam Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi konsep diri  mahasiswa pengguna smartphone tentang nomophobia, makna nomophobia bagi eksistensi diri dan citra diri yang dialami penggunaan smartphone di kalangan mahasiswa, makna nomophobia bagi citra diri dan motif para nomophobia. Penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif teori fenomenologi milik Alfred Schutz dan guna memperkuat tujuan penelitian menggunakan teori konvergensi media dan teori determinisme teknologi. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dan konstruktivisme sebagai paradigma penelitian. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna nomophobia yang muncul dalam penggunaan smartphone di kalangan mahasiswa dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya perubahan konsep diri dalam cara berkomunikasi mahasiswa, eksistensi diri dan citra diri mahasiwa pada media sosial menjadi alasan utama bagi nomophobia dan because motive para nomophobia yang terdiri dari beberapa seperti; keinginan mengikuti trend, pengaruh kelompok, tertarik fitur dan aplikasi, pendidikan, dan pengaruh iklan. Sedangkan faktor yang menjadi tujuan dari nomophobia atau dengan kata lain in order to motive para nomophobia yakni untuk menunjang pendidikan, sarana hiburan, penyalur hobi, simbol identitas sosial, simbol aktualisasi diri, menjalin komunikasi, dan simbol melek teknologi.
