Abstract

Abstract.  Sunyi House Of Coffee and Hope is a Coffeeshop located in the city of Jakarta. West Java since 2019, has a vision of becoming one of the Coffeeshop that empowers or employs employees with disabilities. With the main value of inserting sign language in various ways as a characteristic of the Coffeeshop. This research is entitled "Empowerment Communication for Employees with Disabilities". The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation and communication constraints of Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope for employees with disabilities. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach using a constructivist paradigm that aims to determine the implementation and communication constraints of Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope. Supporting data for this study were obtained through interviews with the main informants of this study, namely the disability employees of Sunyi House of Coffe and Hope and the second key informant here were consumers from Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope. Data collection techniques used in this study were through interviews, documentation, and also literature study. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of communication by Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope has used the theory of interpersonal communication from Joseph A. Devito, which consists of eight indicators. Namely source-recipient, message, media, interference, feedback, context, ethics, and competence. Judging from the communication implementation carried out by Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope, in the process of delivering the message, there are already indicators that exist in Joseph A. Devito's interpersonal communication theory. Although in the process of delivery there are disturbances such as a lack of understanding of sign language, but Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope can handle it quite well.
