Abstract


Abstract—With the age of technology as it is today, both individuals and practitioners of Public Relations of a company can utilize social media in a means of communication to enhance, maintain and improve their reputation very easily and quickly. The internet has made so many “CCTVs†in the world, eyes and ears for every individual, organization and corporation. Their track record is easily opened by anyone when experiencing a crisis. One of Instagram's other social media functions is to improve the reputation of Indira Kalistha in her account @indirakalistha. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of Instagram @indirakalistha content as a means of communication in improving reputation. This research methodology uses quantitative methodology with descriptive content analysis methods. With the technique of collecting data is coding sheets and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the uploads on Indira Kalistha's Instagram during the period 13 May to 13 June 2020 consisted of 16 uploads, Based on the results obtained in Table 4.16, the overall upload reflects image restoration by taking measures from the five image restoration strategies according to William Benoit. The 16 uploads consist of more than 1 category and image restoration dimensions, where 13 uploads or 23.21% are included in the minimalization and differentiation dimensions, reducing the offensiveness category. 10 uploads or 17.86% are included in the defeasibility dimension in the evasion of responsibility category, 4 uploads or 7.14% are included in the dimensions of good intention (evasion of responsibility) and bolstering (reducing the offensiveness), 3 uploads or 5.36% included in the mortification and corrective action category, 2 uploads included in the accident (evasion of responsibility) dimension and denial category, and 1 upload included in the attack the accusers dimension and compensation in the reducing the offensiveness category. Meanwhile, the most dominant image restoration that appeared on Indira Kalistha's Instagram content for the period 13 May to 13 June 2020, was the image restoration category of reducing the offensiveness of the dimensions of minimalization and differentiation which received 13 uploads or 23.21% frequency.
