Abstract

Abstract: Ascites is derived from the Greek word “askites†meaning is like sac. Ascites is an accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Medical condition of ascites is also known as peritoneal cavity fluid, peritoneal fluid excess, hydroperitoneum or better known as abdominal dropsy. Ascites is most often caused by cirrhosis or severe liver disease (portal hypertension), and other causes (non-portal hypertension) included hypoalbuminemia, infection, malignancy, and others-such as Meigs syndrome, vasculitis, hypothyroidism, kidney dialysis, peritoneal mesothelioma. The radiology picture of ascites can be seen through ultrasound imaging results. This study aimed to analyze the incidents and characteristic of age, gender, and judging from the results of ultrasound imaging in Al-Ihsan hospitals Bandung. Observational research using descriptive method. This study was obtained from secondary data such as medical records. Collecting and processing the data taken as a whole and who met the inclusion criteria. Results of research at Al-Ihsan Hospital showed that the incidence of ascites in 2013-2015 was 27 cases. The most age groups in 2013-2015 is over 40 years as many as 12 patients (66.66%), most sex is to men as many as 15 people (55.56%), and the radiologi picture of ultrasound imaging is the most common result of patients with ascites because of CH as a primary or secondary diagnosis as many as 16 people. In conclusion ascites incidence rate in 2013 was 27 cases (38.03%). The most common age group is over 40 years, the most common gender is male, and the result is the most common ultrasound imaging unidentfie ascites, ascites because of CH and other causes.
