Karakteristik Pasien CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) di Rumah Sakit Al-Islam Bandung Periode 1 Januari 2011 – 31 Desember 2015

Abstract: CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) are a disease due to entrapment of the median nerves in the carpal tunnel. Most frequent factors that causing CTS are age, gender, obesity, pregnancy, heredity, medical conditions and others. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients with CTS in RS Al-Islam Bandung period of 1 January 2011-31 December 2015. The designs of this research were observational method with cross-sectional approach. The research sample was taken from the medical records with a total sample of medical records of patients with CTS in accordance with the inclusion criteria amounted to 1621 cases (82.7%). This research was conducted in December 2015 - July 2016. Studies found that mostly CTS patients on ≥40 years old were 87,10%; female patients with 82,70%; and patient with housewives jobs as much as 47,37%. Differences in age, gender, and their jobs repetitive activities might increase the risk of ischemic nerve compression and improve the median nerve damage. Age ≥40 years old were the most susceptible CTS risk due to calcification of the bone and hormonal influences. Female gender on CTS patients mostly occured due to hormonal differences and also differences in the anatomy of the carpal tunnel. 

Abstrak: CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) adalah penyakit yang disebabkan karena terjepitnya saraf medianus dalam terowongan karpal. Faktor resiko CTS yang paling sering  adalah usia, jenis kelamin, obesitas, kehamilan, herediter, kondisi medis, dan lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik penderita CTS di RS Al-Islam Bandung periode 1 Januari 2011 – 31 Desember 2015. Penelitian dilakukan melalui metode obervasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian diambil dari rekam medis dengan total sampel rekam medis penderita CTS yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi sebanyak 1621 kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan sejak bulan Desember 2015 – Juli 2016. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan kasus CTS terbanyak terjadi pada usia ≥40 tahun sebesar 87,10%; jenis kelamin perempuan sebesar 82,70%; dan pasien dengan jenis pekerjaan sebagai ibu rumah tangga sebesar 47,37%. Perbedaan usia, jenis kelamin dan adanya pekerjaan yang bersifat repetitif dan resiko terjadinya pajanan geraran yang tinggi dapat meningkatkan resiko terjadinya kompresi dan iskemi saraf yang meningkatkan kerusakan pada saraf medianus. Usia ≥40 tahun paling rentan mengalami CTS disebabkan terjadinya pengapuran tulang dan adanya pengaruh hormon, sedangkan jenis kelamin perempuan paling sering mengalami CTS karena perbedaan hormonal dan juga perbedaan anatomi terowongan karpal.
