Abstract

Abstract: Most of the population in Indonesia are smokers. This habit causes some diseases like hypertension and cardiac attack that become one of highest cause of fatality condition. Cause and risk factor this diseases are variative and one some of them are higher of hemoglobin and hematocrit level that can cause hemoconcentration and lead to occurred this condition. Increase of cigarette effect to hemoglobin and hematocrit level awareness be expected decrease smoker in population. Object of this study is to discover the different of hemoglobin and hematocrit level between smoker and non smoker person. The study is analytic observational with cross sectional method. The subjects were from male students of medical faculty Bandung Islamic university 2015/2016 bachelor medical educational program. The data obtained by Count Blood Cell examination of male students with inclusion criteria.Comparison was evaluated by parametric independent T-test. Result of this study showed hemoglobin and hematocrit level in smokers are 15,32 g/dL and 46,25% whereas in non smokers are 14,6 and 44,03% Result of this study also showed differentiation hemoglobin level between smoker and non smoker with (p=0,008). Differentiation hematocrit level are also found with (p=0,005). But nothing significant differences between hemoglobin and hematocrit level with the number of cigarette and long of smoking.
