Uji Efektivitas Antibakteri Habbatussauda (Nigella sativa) Ekstrak Etanol terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Salmonella typhi secara In Vitro

Abstract


Abstract. Herbal medicine is a culture of Indonesian society since a long time ago. Herbal medicine use is highly developed but, In Indonesia the research of herbal medicine use in appropriate way is still rarely. Various kinds of herbal medicines that are often used in Indonesia, one of which is Black Seed. Black Seed is a plant that grows in the Middle East. According to some researchers in the Middle East Black Seed can be used as an antibacterial, especially for gram-negative bacteria. In Indonesia Black Seed is often used as a typhoid medicine. Typhoid is a disease caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. Salmonella typhi is a bacteria that widespread in the world and the one of serious problems in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the antibacterial effects of Black Seed (Nigella sativa) on the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria. In this study the material was taken from Black Seed farm in Solo. This research was performed by experimental laboratory test method. Diffusion test was performed to see the antibacterial effects of Black Seed on Salmonella typhi bacteria. The results showed that Black Seed used in this study could not inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria.

Abstrak. Pengobatan tradisional merupakan salah satu budaya masyarakat Indonesia sejak jaman dahulu. Penggunaan obat tradisional semakin berkembang namun di Indonesia masih sedikit penelitian mengenai penggunaan obat tradisional yang tepat. Berbagai macam obat herbal yang sering digunakan di Indonesia salah satunya habbatussauda. Habbatussauda merupakan tanaman yang tumbuh di Timur Tengah. Menurut beberapa peneliti di Timur Tengah habbatussauda dapat digunakan sebagaia antibakteri terutama untuk bakteri gram negatif. Di Indonesia habbatussauda sering digunakan sebagai obat tifoid. Tifoid merupaka penyakit yang diakibatkan oleh bakteri Salmnonella typhi. Salmonella typhi merupakan bakteri yang tersebar luas di seluruh dunia dan merupakan salah satu masalah yang serius di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antibakteri habbatussauda (Nigella sativa) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Salmonella typhi. Pada penelitian ini bahan diambil dari perkebunan habbatussauda di Solo. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental uji laboratorik. Dilakukan uji difusi untuk melihat efek antibakteri habbatussauda terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi.
