Perbandingan Lokalisasi Suara pada Pengguna Helm SNI dan Pengguna Helm Tidak SNI

Abstract


Abstract. Sound localization is the ability to tell the direction from whicha sound is originating. Helmet is a physical barrier that could attenuate sound. This could lead to a decrease of sound localization ability. The purpose of this study was to compare sound localization ability between Indonesian National Standard (SNI) helmet user and unstandardized helmet user. The design of this study was quasi experiment with data analysis using Mann-Whitney test. Twenty students of Universitas Islam Bandung localized sound signal presented from eight different angles. Each participant completed the task while wearing either SNI helmet or unstandardized helmet. Results showed that there was no difference of sound localization ability between SNI helmet user and unstandardized helmet user with P= 0,18 (P>0,05). This might be because both helmets are open face helmets that covered the pinna.

Abstrak. Lokalisasi suara merupakan kemampuan untuk mengidentifikasi darmimana sumber suara berasal. Helm merupakan salah satu penghalang fisik yang dapat menyebabkan sumber suara sulit terdengar, hal ini menyebabkan penggunaan helm dapat menurunkan kemampuan untuk melokalisasi suara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kemampuan lokalisasi suara pada pengguna helm Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) dan helm tidak SNI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan analisis dara menggunakan Uji Mann-Whitney. Sebanyak 20 orang mahasiswa Universitas Islam Bandung melokalisasi suara yang berasala dari delapan sudut yang berbeda. Setiap subjek penelitian melakukan uji lokalisasi suara dengan menggunakan helm SNI atau helm tidak SNI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan lokalisasi suara pada pengguna helm SNI dan pengguna helm tidak SNI dengan didapatkannya nilai P=0,18 (P>0,05). Hal ini dapat disebabkan karena kedua helm merupakan helm standar terbuka yang menutupi bagian pinna.
