Abstract

Abstract. Hypertension is a disease that characterized by increasing in diastolic blood pressure ≥90mmHg or systolic blood pressure ≥140mmHg. The results of Riskesdas 2013 showed the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesian reached 26,5%. Increased incidence of hypertension is caused by dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia can be measured by calculation of ratio HDL/LDL. The ratio is a strong predictor of atherosclerosis plaque formation that can lead to increased blood vessels resistance, and increasing in blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to analyzed the relationship between ratio HDL/LDL and incidence of hypertension in Al-Ihsan Hospital Bandung in 2017. The data was taken from medical record’s data of diagnosed hypertension inpatients that were fully examined in HDL and LDL levels. This study used cross sectional method. Determination of the subject number was obtained using consecutive sampling technique. Analysis of this study used Fisher's Exact Test. The results of study, using 60 medical record’s data obtained the ratio HDL/LDL showed that 47 people (78,33%) were normal and 13 person (21,67%) were abnormal. Based on JNC VII criteria of hypertension, 11 people (18,33%) have hypertension stage I and 49 people (81,67%) have hypertension stage II. From the Fisher's Exact Test results of relationship between ratio HDL/LDL and incidence of hypertension, p=0,43 (p>0,05). It can be concluded that there is no correlation between ratio HDL/LDL and hypertension incidence in Al-Ihsan Hospital Bandung in 2017.
