The Reportation of Violence on Online Motorcycle Taxi (Go-Jek) in Online Media

Abstract


This study focus on news of Online Motorcycle Taxi (Go-Jek) in online media: the media coverage of events and the tendency of media to the events reported. Among many online media that reported violence on Online Motorcycle Taxi (Go-Jek). This study used qualitative analysis with Framing method of Zongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki model. This model was used to determine the way a journalist or media highlight their meaning or interpretation of an event with four categories of problem identification. The research data covers news of violence on Online Motorcycle Taxi (Go-Jek) in the period from July to September 2015 in Online Media detik.com and republika.co.id. The results of these two online media should enrich the information to be provided to public for clarity and content of the text complete with a duration longer media. Free time has become a mainstay of an online media, but the objectivity of news must be remain the grip of media journalists that frame it. By using Framing analysis of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki, it was found that Republika.co.id displays more integrity in the objectivity of news compared to Detik.com
