Studi Deskriptif Mengenai Pengalaman Flow pada Musisi di Komunitas Klab Jazz Bandung

Abstract


Abstract. Jazz is a music that has a high complexity. Many jazz musicians try so hard to show their work, but it’s hard maintaining or achieving its popularity because of the music they play can only be accepted by the community or certain circles and eventually they stop and play in other genres that is more easily accepted by society. Even so there are people in the community Bandung Jazz clubs are still pursue jazz music and considered optimal by the audience of jazz. Playing jazz is not east, their work was less acceptable to the general public so that they find it’s difficult to achieve popularity, but it is a challenge, they say that jazz is not just to gain popularity, but they can feel happiness, pleasure and satisfaction when they playing jazz. They say that when playing jazz, they feel themself drifting and late in that their play. This flow experience can make someone being optimal on their field. This research uses descriptive method, the subject of this research are about ten people. Measuring instrument used in this study is the adaptation of Flow State Scale (FSS). The results obtained from this study of ten musicians, there are seven musicians in flow intense, a musician in flow is not intense, and the two musicians are not in flow. Dimensions were found to be high on the whole subject is a skill challenge balance, unambiguous feedback, concentration to the task at hand, loss of self-consciousness and the transformation of time. recomend of this study for musicians who do not experience can flow in flow, musicians must be able to assess the ability of in order to adjust their work according to his ability and set clear objectives in a work.

 

Abstrak. Musik jazz merupakan musik yang memiliki kompleksitas tinggi. Banyak musisi jazz di Indonesia yang berusaha untuk menampilkan karya – karyanya, namun kesulitan dalam mempertahankan atau mencapai popularitasnya dikarenakan musik yang mereka mainkan hanya dapat diterima oleh komunitas atau kalangan tertentu saja dan pada akhirnya mereka berhenti dan bermain di genre musik lain yang lebih mudah diterima masyarakat. Walaupun begitu terdapat musisi di komunitas Klab Jazz Bandung yang masih menekuni musik jazz dan permainannya dianggap optimal oleh para penikmat jazz. Menurut mereka selain sulit dalam memainkannya, karyanya pun kurang bisa diterima oleh masyarakat umum sehingga mereka kesulitan untuk mencapai popularitas, namun hal tersebut  merupakan tantangan, mereka berpendapat bahwa musik jazz bukan hanya sekedar meraih popularitas saja, tetapi mereka dapat merasakan kebahagiaan, kenikmatan dan kepuasan tersendiri ketika mereka memainkan musik jazz. Ketika memainkan jazz merasa dirinya hanyut dan larut dalam permainan yang mereka mainkan. Pengalaman flow ini dapat membuat seseorang optimal pada bidangnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, subjek penelitian ini berjumlah sepuluh orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah adaptasi Flow State Scale (FSS). Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini dari sepuluh musisi terdapat tujuh musisi mengalami flow intens, satu musisi mengalami flow tidak intens, dan dua musisi tidak mengalami flow. Dimensi yang ditemukan tinggi pada seluruh subjek adalah challenge skill balance, unambiguous feedback, concentration to the task at hand, loss of self consciousness dan transformation of time. Saran dari penelitian ini agar musisi yang tidak mengalami flow dapat mengalami flow, musisi harus mampu menilai kemampuan mereka agar dapat menyesuaikan karya yang sesuai dengan kemampuannya lalu menetapkan tujuan yang jelas dalam suatu karya.
