Abstract

Abstract. The prevalence of Coronary Heart Disease in Indonesia is still very high and has become the highest cause of death for cardiovascular disease. Frequently people with heart disease are late in detecting early symptoms that tend to ignore the disease until it reaches the stage of a more severe. Therefore, secondary prevention should be sought as soon as possible by controlling coronary heart disease risk factors, namely through lifestyle changes and drug therapy. This can be obtained by treatment to the hospital one of them is Hospital Al-Islam Bandung, but not all people do the entire treatment recommended by a doctor, one of them is that patients who came in a heavy state , because they are wrong in perceiving the disease conditions experienced. The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical data on the relationship between illness perception with behavioral compliance. The method used in this study was correlational. Number of samples were 41 people with accidental sampling technique. The data collection was done by using a measuring instrument such as The Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire and compliance behavior questionnaire made by the researcher by referring to the theory of compliance by Sarafino. The result of data processing obtained the presence of high correlation between Treatment Control withCompliance (rs = 0,723, obtained medium correlation betweenIllness Perception dimensionConsequences withCompliance (rs = 0,505), Illness Coherence withCompliance (rs = 0,588 ),  Identity with Compliance (rs = 0,411), Causes with Compliance (rs = 0,566), and Timeline Cyclical withCompliance, (rs = 0,477 ), and obtained low correlation betweenIllness Perception dimensionEmotions with Compliance, (rs = 0,325 ), Timeline Chronic withCompliance (rs = 0,334), Personal Control withCompliance (rs = 0,394). This shows that the more patients have an accurate perception of the illness then it will increasingly encouraging patients to adhere to the doctor's prescriptions.
