Correlation between self esteem and loneliness on cybersex performers in Bandung.

Abstract


This research done to late  teenagers who commit cybersex by providing sensual pictures and phone calling, sexual video calling, accessing adult stories, watching sensual pictures and videos at least once a week followed by masturbation sometimes. A Cybersex done by teenagers is usually related by either their postive or negative evaluation to certain object; themselves when interacting with the environment. The negative evaluation is related to unsatisfied feeling results in discrepancy between desired and present social relationship so it causes loneliness feeling (Perlman & Pelau in Dane, Deaux, & Wrightsman, 1993). This research is correlational study with 77 cybersex performers in Bandung as the sample to describe the correlation between self esteem and lonelines on teenagers.  The correlation coefficient score between self esteem and loneliness is -0,519. The results show that 66 teenagers (85,71%) have low Self Esteem and 11 teenagers (14, 29% have high self Esteem. There are 42 teenagers (54,55%) have high loneliness and 35 teenagers (45,45% have low loneliness. The correlation result of psysical Sel Esteem aspect is -0,354, social Self Esteem is -0,345, and Performance Self Esteem is -0,445. The instrument used is Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale. The data is obtained using snow ball method and a direct questionnaire.
