Indonesia is one of the fifth largest internet user countries in Asia according toThe Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in 2020. (Kementerian Informasi, 2020). The most active internet users are dominated by student groups compared to other groups. The role of internet for students, in addition to the interest of education and work, students make the internet a coping strategy of various problem faced, one of which is psychological problems such as loneliness. If students use the internet excessively, they are prone to experiencing problems using the internet, which can cause internet addiction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between loneliness and internet addiction among students in Bandung. The method used is quantitative with a correlational research design. The subjects were 407 students selected by purposive sampling. The data collected through the scale of loneliness which is Loneliness scale version 3 (UCLA) compiled by Russell (1996) and the internet addiction scale, [namely] (i.e.) the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) compiled by Young's (1996) which has been adapted to Indonesian. The analysis technique used is the correlation test Spearman Rank. The results showed a significant correlation between loneliness and internet addiction (p = 0.000 <0.05) with a correlation coefficient value of 0.423. This means that there is a significant positive correlation between loneliness and internet addiction among students in Bandung with a moderate or strong level of closeness. So that further research, it is necessary to consider other factors that contribute to loneliness or internet addiction.
