Hubungan antara Kesepian dengan Adiksi Media Sosial pada Remaja di Kota Bandung

Abstract


Abstract. Most internet users based on age is in category 15-19 years (adolescent). Bandung is the most internet user, especially social media in West Java. Social media is thought to be a way to reduce loneliness because it can build relationships by online. Adolescents who do not have satisfaction in their social life will use social media continuously because it causes feelings of pleasure, this comes from dopamine which plays a role in influencing human emotions, because accessing social media is fun for adolescent who are not satisfied in their relationships, so adolescent do this over and over again until it becomes habitual and loses control which causes addiction to interfere with daily activities. This study aims to obtain empirical data about how closely the relationship between loneliness and social media addiction among teenagers in Bandung. This study uses the correlation method with a total of 125 research subjects. The measuring tool for social media addiction is the SMAS developed by Al-Menayes in 2015, while the measuring tool for loneliness is adapted from the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 by Daniell W Russell in 1996. The results of the study show that there is a closeness of the relationship of 0.202, which means that the strength of the relationship is weak so that the lower the loneliness, the lower the social media addiction among adolescents in Bandung.

Abstrak. Pengguna internet terbanyak berdasarkan umur ada di kategori 15-19 tahun (remaja). Media sosial diduga sebagai cara dalam menurunkan rasa kesepian karena dapat membangun hubungan online. Seseorang yang kesepian dapat berinteraksi dengan orang lain, serta mengekspresikan diri lebih baik di dunia maya daripada secara langsung. Remaja yang tidak memiliki kepuasan dalam kehidupan sosialnya akan menggunakan media sosial secara terus menerus karena menimbulkan perasaan senang, hal ini berasal dari  dopamin yang berperan dalam mempengaruhi emosi manusia, karena mengakses media sosial ini menyenangkan bagi remaja yang tidak puas dalam hubungannya, maka remaja melakukan hal ini secara berulang hingga menjadi kebiasan dan kehilangan kontrol yang menimbulkan adiksi hingga menganggu aktivitas sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data empiris tentang seberapa erat hubungan adiksi media sosial dengan kesepian pada remaja kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi dengan total subjek penelitian 125 orang. Alat ukur adiksi media sosial adalah SMAS yang dikembangkan oleh Al-Menayes tahun 2015, sedangkan alat ukur kesepian mengadaptasi dari University of California, Los Angeles Loneliness Scale Version 3 oleh Daniell W Russell tahun 1996. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya keeratan hubungannya sebesar 0,202 yang artinya kekuatan hubungan tersebut lemah sehingga semakin rendah adiksi media sosial, maka semakin rendah kesepian pada remaja di kota Bandung.
