Studi Deskriptif Perilaku Adiksi Internet pada Remaja di Kota Bandung

Abstract


Abstract. Adolescent in Bandung are indicated by internet addiction, symptoms such as obsessive thoughts about the internet, withdrawal, uncontrolled impulses, and an inability to stop using the internet (Young, 1999). Internet addiction or addiction can cause a decline in various aspects of adolescent life. In Bandung adolescents, it was found that there was a decrease in aspects of life related to the difficulty in controlling time to go online so that the teenagers always wanted to use the internet and they were stressed when they could not access the internet. This objective is to obtain data to provide a detailed description of adolescent internet addiction behavior in Bandung City and to obtain a description of the relationship between adolescents in Bandung who are indicated by internet addiction. The method used is descriptive method with 146 adolescents as many as subjects. The data was collected using the Internet Addiction Test (1998) which consists of 20 items and was constructed by Kimberly Young. Based on the calculation of the frequency, the results of this study indicate that the level of internet addiction among adolescents in Bandung is: 1) 5% of adolescents classified into the normal category. 2) As much as 31% of adolescents classified into the low internet addiction category. 3) 53% of adolescents classified into the medium internet addiction category. 4) 11% of adolescents classified into the category of heavy internet addiction. The most prominent dimension in Bandung youth is neglecting social life, meaning that teenagers prefer to use the internet more often than build relationships with their peers.

Abstrak. Remaja Kota Bandung terindikasi adiksi internet, adiksi atau kecanduan internet ditandai oleh gejala-gejala seperti pemikiran obsesif tentang internet, penarikan, impuls yang tidak terkontrol, dan ketidakmampuan untuk berhenti menggunakan internet (Young, 1999). Kecanduan atau adiksi internet dapat menimbulkan penurunan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan remaja. Pada remaja Kota Bandung ditemukan terjadinya penurunan pada aspek kehidupan yang berkaitan dengan kesulitan mengontrol waktu untuk online sehingga para remaja menjadi selalu ingin menggunakan internet dan merasa stres ketika tidak bisa mengakses internet. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data untuk memberikan gambaran terkait perilaku adiksi internet remaja di Kota Bandung secara rinci dan diperolehnya gambaran karakteristik remaja Kota Bandung yang terindikasi adiksi internet. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 146 remaja. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan Intenet Addiction Test (1998) yang terdiri dari 20 item dan dikonstruksi oleh Kimberly Young. Berdasarkan perhitungan distribusi frekuensi hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat adiksi internet pada remaja Kota Bandung adalah: 1) Sebesar 5% remaja masuk ke dalam kategori normal.  2) Sebesar 31% remaja masuk ke dalam kategori adiksi internet rendah. 3) Sebesar 53% remaja masuk ke dalam kategori adiksi internet sedang. 4)Sebesar 11%  remaja masuk ke dalam kategori adiksi internet berat. Dimensi yang paling menonjol pada remaja Kota Bandung adalah neglect social life, artinya para remaja lebih sering memilih untuk menggunakan internet dibanding membangun relasi dengan teman sebayanya.
