Abstract

Abstract. Nowadays there are many cases of bullying in schools in Indonesia. According to Winkler, (2005) the highest number of bullying occurs at the age of junior high school (SMP). Students who are victims of bullying can be at risk of experiencing various impacts due to bullying. In order for students to avoid this impact, students must improve their resilience abilities which can be influenced by individual abilities and the environment, in this case parenting styles. The study used stratified cluster random sampling techniques and this study aimed to determine the effect of parenting on the resilience of 394 bullying victims of junior high school students in Bandung. This research uses Childrens world bullying measurement tool, Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran-Children (EMBU-C) parenting style measurement tool, and Child and Youth Resilience Measurement Revised (CYRM-R) resilience measurement tool. These three measuring tools have been adapted to the context and culture of Indonesia, referring to the principles of adaptation of cross-cultural psychological measuring tools (Borualogo, et al., 2019). The results showed that there was a significant influence between parenting style and parental rejection of resilience. Parenting patterns that can have a significant positive effect on student resilience are warm parenting styles from both parents. Meanwhile, parents who give rejection to students can have a significant negative effect on students.
