Studi Deskriptif Mengenai Self Esteem pada Remaja Penyandang Cacat Bibir Sumbin di Rumah Singgah X Kota Bandung

Abstract

Abstract. The cleft house x is the only foundation that provides special free treatment for people with cleft lip disabilities in the city of Bandung. Cleft house has a screening program for people with cleft lip defects in the city of Bandung. Based on the results of the screening program data that has been carried out, there are 17 teenagers with cleft lip disabilities who choose not to cure their physical condition. Even with the condition of physical disability, it does not reduce self esteem in themselves. Even they are still able to perform academically and non-academically, and do not experience obstacles in social interaction. The purpose of this study is to get a picture of self esteem in adolescents with cleft lip disabilities in the city of Bandung. The research method used is descriptive analysis with a population of 17 people. The measuring instrument used was compiled by researchers by adapting the Self Esteem Inventory (SEI) measurement tool from Stanley Coopersmith (1978). The results showed there were 76% of adolescents with cleft lip disabilities who had high levels of self esteem and 24% who had high low self esteem.

Abstrak. Rumah singgah bibir sumbing x merupakan satu-satunya yayasan yang memberikan pengobatan gratis khusu bagi para penyandang cacat bibir sumbing di kota Bandung. Rumah singgah bibir sumbing memiliki program penyaringan para penderita cacat bibir sumbing di kota Bandung. Berdasarkan hasil data program penyaringan yang telah dilakukan, terdapat 17 remaja penyandang cacat bibir sumbing yang memilih untuk tidak menyembuhkan kondisi fisiknya. Meskipun dengan kondisi cacat fisik tersebut, tidak menurunkan self esteem pada diri mereka. Bahkan mereka masih mampu untuk berprestasi secara akademik maupun non akademik, serta tidak mengalami hambatan dalam berinteraksi sosial. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan gambaran self esteem pada remaja penyandang cacat bibir sumbing di kota Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dengan populasi sebanyak 17 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan disusun oleh peneliti dengan mengadaptasi alat ukur Self Esteem Inventory (SEI) dari Stanley Coopersmith (1978). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 76% remaja penyandang cacat bibir sumbing yang memiliki tingkat self esteem tinggi dan 24% yang memiliki tinggi self esteem rendah.
