Abstract


Abstract. Adolescent period has characteristic which having a storm and stress in their emotion and it’s a critical period. But at SLB Az Zakiyah, there is athletes with special needs that active in various event and most of them have achievments. Most of these athletes with special needs didn’t have support and special care from their parents. Parents have an important roles in optimizing the potency in children with special needs. These atheltes with special needs exercise regularly and indicates that they have a high exercise motivation. They also observe that the coach has high effort and involvement in training session. Involvement and effort of the coach are refer as engagement. This study aim to discover the correlation of perception of teacher engagement and exercise motivation in athletes with special at SLB Az Zakiyah Bandung. Theory that used are engagement by Schaufeli & Bakker and Motivation by Nevid. This study use correlational method with 12 subject which is athletes with special needs. The result is indicates there are a strong and significant correlation between perception of teacher engagement and exercise motivation with correlation coefficient 0.678 sig 0.015.

Abstrak. Masa perkembangan remaja memiliki karakteristik emosi yang bergejolak dan merupakan masa kritis. Namun di SLB Az Zakiyah terdapat atlet-atlet remaja berkebutuhan khusus yang aktif mengikuti perlombaan dan beberapa di antaranya berprestasi. Sebagian besar atlet-atlet berkebutuhan khusus ini kurang mendapatkan dukungan dan perlakuan khusus dari orangtua mereka, seharusnya orangtua berperan penting dalam mengoptimalkan potensi anak-anak berkebutuhan khusus. Atlet-atlet berkebutuhan secara rutin mengikuti kegiatan latihan dan tampak menunjukkan indikasi adanya motivasi berlatih yang tinggi dalam diri mereka. Atlet berkebutuhan khusus memandang bahwa guru pelatih memiliki keterlibatan dan usaha yang tinggi dalam kegiatan latihan. Keterlibatan dan usaha guru pelatih dalam pekerjaannya dikenal dengan istilah engagement. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan dari persepsi terhadap engagement dengan motivasi berlatih olahraga atlet-atlet berkebutuhan khusus di SLB Az Zakiyah Bandung. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah engagement dari Schaufelli & Bakker dan motivasi dari Nevid. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional dengan subjek 12 atlet berkebutuhan khusus. Hasil korelasi menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.678 dengan taraf signifikansi 0.015 yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan kuat dan signifikan antara persepsi terhadap teacher engagement dengan motivasi berlatih olahraga.
