Tingkat Pemahaman Literasi Media Siswa SMK YPC Tasikmalaya Jurusan Multimedia

Abstract


Abstract. The reason for many hoaxes are easily spreads in Indonesia is because the lack of literacy culture among Indonesian people. Knowledge about media literacy is really important to be taught to Indonesian teenager, especially high-schooler, which are the next generation of us. The YPC Vocational School (SMK YPC), which where this research took place on,  is one of the Islamic school in west of Java which have a Multimedia department. This school had received media literacy training by PKM UNISBA team in March 2019 with the goals to aim a further media literacy skills of the students majoring in Multimedia. In this study examined “what is the level of media literacy’s Comprehension of YPC Vocational School students majoring in Multimedia based on the Literacy Media Assessment Criteria Frameworkâ€. This study use quantitative method with descriptive approach, using total sampling technique with 20 respondents. The respondents from this study are students from Multimedia department in YPC Vocational School. The reason this study use only 20 person as the respondent is because of due to the existence of a selection system in media literacy training to select 20 students to take part in the activity. The data collection techniques of this study were carried out through questionnaires and observation. The result of this study are: (1) It is known that the media literacy level of the YPC Tasikmalaya Vocational School Multimedia Department based on Environmental Factors is in the "High" category which technically has a total combined variable score of 1,180 from a maximum index value of 1,600 and a total frequency of answers of 320. (2) It is known that the media literacy level of the YPC Tasikmalaya Vocational School Multimedia Department based on Environmental Factors is in the "High" category which technically has a total combined variable score of 2,366 from the maximum index value of 2,366 and the number of frequency responses of 640.

Abstrak. Banyak hoax mudah menyebar di Indonesia adalah karena kurangnya budaya literasi di kalangan masyarakat Indonesia. Budaya literasi harus sudah diajarkan kepada anak-anak sejak mereka masih belia. Pengetahuan tentang literasi media sangat penting untuk diajarkan kepada remaja Indonesia, terutama siswa sekolah menengah, yang merupakan generasi penerus kita. SMK YPC yang menjadi tempat penelitian ini adalah salah satu sekolah Islam di Jawa Barat yang memiliki jurusan Multimedia. Sekolah ini pernah mendapatkan pelatihan literasi media oleh tim PKM UNISBA pada bulan maret lalu untuk lebih mengembangkan kemampuan literasi media para siswa jurusan multimedia ini. Pada penelitian ini hal yang diteliti adalah “Bagaimanakah tingkat pemahaman literasi media siswa SMK YPC Tasikmalaya jurusan Multimedia berdasarkan Literacy Media Assessment Criteria Framework?†Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, menggunakan teknik total sampling dengan 20 responden. Responden dari penelitian ini adalah siswa dari jurusan Multimedia di SMK YPC. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya sistem seleksi dalam pelatihan literasi media yang dilakukan oleh PKM UNISBA sehingga hanya terdapat 20 peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan tersebut. Sedangkan teknik pengambilan data penelitian ini dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah : (1) Diketahui bahwa tingkat literasi media Siswa SMK YPC Tasikmalaya Jurusan Multimedia berdasarkan Faktor Lingkungan berada pada kategori “Tinggi†yang secara teknis memiliki jumlah skor total gabungan variabel sebanyak 1.180 dari nilai indeks maksimal 1.600 dan jumlah frekuensi jawaban seanyak 320. (2) Diketahui bahwa tingkat literasi media Siswa SMK YPC Tasikmalaya Jurusan Multimedia berdasarkan Faktor Lingkungan berada pada kategori “Tinggi†yang secara teknis memiliki jumlah skor total gabungan variabel sebanyak 2.366 dari nilai indeks maksimal sebesar 2.366 dan jumlah frekuensi jawaban sebanyak 640.
