Opini Anggota Mixed Martial Arts White Tiger Mengenai Tayangan Olahraga Ultimate Fighting Championship

Abstract


Television as an electronic mass media which have excellences in audio and visual is still being one of people's choices in finding entertainment nowadays. The development of television, especially in this homeland has grown rapidly so that a wide variety of entertainment programs are aired variously. For instance is a sports television programme Ultime Fighting Championship on RCTI, where the aim of this study is to find out how are the members of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Whie Tiger opinios toward the adult mixed martial arts with violence elements in it. Certainly that television programme cause various kinds of opinions among the viewers. The writer wants to find out the opinions of White Tiger MMA members based on the three public opinion components according to (Heryanto&Rumaru) which are beliefs, values, and expectations. This leads to the identification of the problem; How are the White Tiger MMA members’ beliefs, values, and expectations toward the elements of violence in sports television programme Ultimate Fighting Championship? The research method used in this study is descriptive analysis, the writer tries to describe the White Tiger MMA members opinions that may have different opinions with the society in general regarding the Ultime Fighting Championship controversy show. The result of this study is, it is found that from the aspect of beliefs, values, and expectations this show are still in a sufficient category, in which the respondents considered the Ultimate Fighting Championship is a compatible show and not entirely involving violence, because the match which was held are referring to MMA de facto, yet it is better if the television programme is shown publicly to the society in order to make an understanding that this programme is not just a mere entertainment.
