Abstract


This research is about an organization, namely Study Theatre of Unisba (Stuba), which applying a system of kinesics signs as a positive activity that is part of the persuasive communication. Same as other theaters, theatrical performances Stuba as a media communication showing the process of interaction symbols that related to the kinesics signs played by the performers. This process aims to show to the audience, both artists and art lovers within interprate messages from the performances in accordance with each of their own paradigm. This research using qualitative methods with semiotic approach. Kinesics sign are the main object of this research, which their were includes movement, gesture and mime shows in one whole theatre performance titled “Kisah Yang Terulang†created by M.D Ruhanda, sourced from the documentation and news feed collected by researcher in STUBA. The subject is also those people who get involves in this show, which are the director and all of the actors. The myth in this performance is about the mightiness and appetence. The appetence used to show through expression, movement, and gesture. Yet, in this story, there is a red fabric that could be represent as a symbol of “Appetenceâ€. Accordingly, that is why a signs in the theatre able to be a sign of a sign that describe random characteristical, not only materially. The study refers to the metalanguage and connotation theory found by Roland Barthes as a signification analysis. Nevertheless, its obviously that semiotic signs which implied in an art performance such theatre has a big influences to comprehension of communication. Those actors whose get involve in the play, planning the performance with greatly in hope that audiences will amused and get the meaning of whole sign or symbols idea presented while the show on the play entirely from the start to the end at once. As well as epic theatrical showed by Brecht said that all the things which is relevant with morals must be delivered in entertaining way.
