Isolation of non-polar compound from water hyacinth leaves (Eichhornia Crassipes (Mart.) Solms)

Abstract


This research describes isolation of nonpolar compound from water hyacinth leaves (Eichhornia crassipes). The objective of this research is to determine nonpolar compound on water hyacinth leaves (Eichhornia crassipes). Extraction is made by using reflucks method with n-heksan solvent. The extract obtained is observed by KLT GF254 plate with etanol:n-heksan eluen (9:1). The extract is then fractsinated using liquid vacuum chromatography method and results in 7 fractions. Fraction obeservation of KCV using KLT GF254 with etanol:n-heksan eluen (9:1). The 5th fraction from KCV result and then it is isolated by using preparative KLT plate with eluen (9:1). Preparative KLT fraction is characterized by using UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The results provides absorption on long phase of 223,0 nm, and it is predicted as nonpolar compound of isolation result from steroid compound category.
