Abstract

Abstract. cyclodextrins are pharmaceutical excipients that can enhance physical and chemical stability of drugs through formation of inclusion complexes. The cyclodextrin lipophilic cavity is able to interact with various kinds of hydrophobic drugs, thus changing the physicochemical properties of the drugs without affecting their intrinsic ability to permeate biological membranes. The purpose of a literature review is to discuss the effect of the inclusion complex formation of cyclodextrin on the physical and chemical stability on the organic compounds of isolation natural materials are potential as drugs. The method used is secondary data related to the physical and chemical stability of the cyclodextrin inclusion complex formation. Numerous studies shown that formation of inclusion complexes can hamper hydrolysis, oxidation, photodegradation, heat stability and decrease volatility. However, inclusion complexes of curcumin with 2-hidroksipropil-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) Preparation methods pH shift can increase degradation of curcumin. These analyzes provided evidence that stability of bioactive natural products affected by the methods of preparation of inclusion complexes.
