Formulasi dan Uji Efektivitas Anti Jerawat Sediaan Emulgel Minyak Biji Bunga Matahari (Helianthus Annuus L.) Secara In Vitro Terhadap Propionibacterium acnes

Abstract. Acne is one of skin damage caused by Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The content of linoleic acid in sunflower seed oil has the potential activity of antibacterial to Propionibacterium acnes. The purpose of this study to determine the formulation of physically stable sunflower seed oil emulgel preparations and fill pharmaceutical requirements and to determine the activity of the sunflower seed oil emulgel as an anti-acne preparation to Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The trial of antibacterial activity to Propionibacterium acnes bacteria was carried out using the diffusion method. The emulgel preparation was made using tween 80 and span 80 surfactant on HLB 11 with variations in oil concentration (10%, 15% and 20%). The Emulgel were tested for physical properties and antibacterial activity to Propionibacterium acnes. Sunflower seed oil which has strong antibacterial activity concentration of 10% with a inhibition diameter of 10.15 mm. The Emulgel containing sunflower seed oil 10%, 15% and 20% were physically stable based on centrifugation test and freeze thaw test and fulfilled pharmaceutical requirements in terms of organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, emulsion type, spreadability, viscosity and rheology. Sunflower seed oil emulgel preparations had the effectiveness of anti-acne to Propionibacterium acnes bacteria with each inhibition diameter of 9.92 mm; 10.65 mm and 13.65 mm (p-value> 0.05).

Abstrak. Jerawat merupakan salah satu kerusakan kulit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Kandungan asam linoleat dalam minyak biji matahari berpotensi memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan formulasi sediaan emulgel minyak biji bunga matahari yang stabil secara fisik dan memenuhi persyaratan farmasetika serta untuk menentukan aktivitas dari sediaan emulgel minyak biji bunga matahari sebagai anti jerawat terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode difusi agar. Sediaan emulgel dibuat menggunakan surfaktan tween 80 dan span 80 pada HLB 11 dengan variasi konsentrasi minyak (10%, 15% dan 20%). Sediaan emulgel diuji sifat fisik dan aktivitas antibakterinya terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Minyak biji bunga matahari yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang kuat yaitu pada konsentrasi 10% dengan diameter hambat 10,15 mm. Sediaan emulgel yang mengandung minyak biji bunga matahari 10%, 15% dan 20% stabil secara fisik berdasarkan uji sentrifugasi dan uji freeze thaw serta memenuhi persyaratan farmasetika dalam hal uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, tipe emulsi, daya sebar, viskositas dan rheologi. Sediaan emulgel minyak biji bunga matahari memiliki efektivitas anti jerawat terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dengan diameter hambat masing-masing yaitu 9,92 mm; 10,65 mm dan 13,65 mm (p-value>0,05).
