Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most common infectious disease causing morbidity and mortality. Anti Tuberculosis Drug is given as a therapy for 6 months. This treatment have hepatotoxicity effect that causes liver dysfunction. Many factors affect the incidence of hepatotoxicity due to anti tuberculosis drug, such as gender, age, and nutritional status. The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between characteristics of pulmonary TB patients with liver dysfunction as a side  effect of anti tuberculosis drug in BBKPM Bandung in 2015-2016. This study was quantitative analytic observation and using cross sectional design with the samples was 215 and statistical analysis using chi square test. The result showed were the most age group of TB patients is <45 years old (72,0%), female (56,0%), and underweight (68,0%). But in this study only nutrition status and liver dysfunction that has strong association p=0,024 (p<0,05). This may be caused by glutation reseves will decrease in someone with underweight, so it will deacrease the process of toxin detoxsification and increase risk of liver cell injury.
