Hubungan Aktivitas Sarapan dengan Fungsi Kognitif Memori Jangka Pendek pada Siswa kelas 3 dan 4 SD Pertiwi Kecamatan Bandung Wetan Kota Bandung

Abstract


Abstract: The learning process in early formal education has to be supported by having an excellent memory to support the learning process,  acquiring knowledge and remembering new information. Memory has been proved to be associated with nutrition that obtained from breakfast and as much as 20-30% of children and adolescents around the world did not take breakfast every morning. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between breakfast with short-term memory in the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City. This research was using analytical observation with cross-sectional design. The subjects of this research was the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City. The data was taken from filling the form  about how often they made breakfast and digit span test. The results showed, from 78 respondents 58 students were take breakfast and the other 20 students didn’t take breakfast. In addition, as many as 44 students obtained optimal results from digit span test (≥9) and the other 34 students didn’t get the optimum result from digit span test (<9). The results of statistical test by using Chi Square showed that there were strong relationship between breakfast and cognitive function of the short-term memory with the value of reseacrh was p = <0.001. The conclusion from this study was there are strong relationship between the importance of having breakfast and short-term memory of the 3rd and 4th grade students in Pertiwi Elementary School at District of Bandung Wetan District, Bandung City.

Abstrak: Proses pembelajaran dalam pendidikan sangat membutuhkan peran memori untuk mendukung pembelajaran dan memperoleh pengetahuan serta mengingat informasi baru. Memori telah terbukti berhubungan dengan kandungan nutrisi yang didapatkan saat sarapan dan sebanyak 20-30% anak dan remaja di seluruh dunia tidak melakukan aktivitas sarapan setiap paginya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan aktivitas sarapan dengan kemampuan memori jangka pendek pada siswa kelas 3 dan 4 di SD Pertiwi Kecamatan Bandung Wetan Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional dan metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain cross sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa-siswi kelas 3 dan 4 SD Pertiwi Kecamatan Bandung Wetan Kota Bandung. Data diperoleh dari pengisian form mengenai sarapan dan digit span test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, dari 78 responden sebanyak 58 orang melakukan aktivitas sarapan dan sebanyak 20 orang tidak melakukan aktivitas sarapan. Selain itu, sebanyak 44 orang memperoleh  hasil digit span test optimal (≥9) dan sebanyak 34 orang memperoleh  hasil digit span test tidak optimal <9. Hasil uji statistik dengan menggunakan Chi Square menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan bermakna antara aktivitas sarapan dengan fungsi kognitif  memori jangka pendek dengan nilai p=<0,001. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara aktivitas sarapan dengan fungsi kognitif memori jangka pendek pada siswa kelas 3 dan 4 di SD Pertiwi Kecamatan Bandung Wetan Kota Bandung.
